Most successful
I think that my most successful artwork this semester would have to be my sphere. Although it is a very simple moon design I think it looks very nice. I really like the colors that I decided to use, I wasn't sure what to use at first, I was thinking maybe a grey or another neutral color. When I saw the color that Cassandra made that was turquoise and emerald green I knew I had to use it!
Most obstacles
The artwork that I encountered the most obstacles was my slab box. The first was when I accidentally cut one of my slabs too short so it didn't fit the bottom of my box. The next thing that happened was when I was carrying it to the kiln room to dry, I dropped the lid, and my handle shattered. Another thing that I didn't really like about my box was that it had a slight lean so it has more of a diamond shape than a square.
Growth as an artist
Clay
My experience using only clay was very positive. I really enjoy using clay, I feel like I have more control that I would with a pencil or paint. The clay is very manipulative and I can mold it into whatever shape I want. I also love that clay is three dimensional, so you can make your artwork very detailed from all angles. The only thing I don't like is when I want to make something but I don't know how, but I guess that just comes with time.
